I have added an Exchange account, and it still shows. In addition, every time I start the program, my inbox is sorted by Conversation. I have changed to 'date received' and I have tried to save that as the default view, but it always reverts at the next start of the app. This being installed on a brand-new installation of Mountail Lion. Cheers Everyone! I have found the root cause of this issue. Apparently when you setup auto discovery in DNS for our exchange server that is hosted by Microsoft Online services. It fubars the packets being generated so it gets kicked back. So anyone with this issue in the future. Those of you who decide to put Mac's into your environment. Be sure to remove auto discover in DNS and if it is enabled.

Workaround To work around this issue, run Outlook for Mac 2011 on Mac OS X Yosemite (version 10.10) or an earlier version. Happy to know that I need to use Mac OS X Yosemite (version 10.10) or an earlier version or to work offline or with no account configured! It makes sense for a messaging application!!
